Arawak has an upper and lower helm similar to this sistership photo. It’s certainly not designed for comfort, but the large wheel and good line of sight make it a fine perch in heavy weather. One area where our boat will change dramatically is the electronics set-up.
The forward stateroom of this 1996 Grand Banks 42 is not much different from the original Grand Banks 42, introduced in 1966. This traditional V-berth is a set-up more common on sailboats and is actually more comfortable than it looks. Our boat will receive a spruce up of the joinery in this area, new foam for the cushions, new upholstery, a new overhead hatch from Vetus-Maxwell, and a full cleaning.
A new swim platform will let you really enjoy the water this summer. But what should that new platform be made of?

Contemplating a new powerplant for your boat? Join us as we begin repowering the 1996 Grand Banks motoryacht we’re totally rehabilitating—and we mean totally—way down south in the Virgin Islands.

Head Down East
With origins in Maine’s lobster-fishing industry, Down East-inspired cruisers have become popular because of their classic lines, excellent seakeeping abilities, and simple layout. There seems to be some debate on the geographic range of the species.
