After Aquila’s initial fishing realm successes with both the Molokai 28 and 47, splitting the difference with a 36 is only a logical next step.

“We didn’t set out to build just another 36-foot boat,” said Aquila USA CEO and Chief Product Officer Jean Raas in a press release last week. “We built a fishing weapon that happens to be 36 feet long. Every design decision was made with serious anglers in mind. The beautiful thing is it’s also a great boat for entertaining family and friends.”

Indeed, the Molokai 36 is Aquila’s third go at a dedicated center-console fishing cat, but like her big sister, she brings all of the comforts non-anglers could want in an impressively tight but complete package for a 36’5” LOA and an 11’9” beam: A cabin that sleeps two comfortably with a head, a galley amidships (above a 9-tray tackle unit and a pair of slide-out coolers), a three-person sun pad up in the bow, wraparound coaming bolsters, and two fold-down forward-facing bench seats in the stern.

And the angling-specific features are enough to make your favorite deep-V hull blush: A pair of large fish boxes, two livewells in the transom, upwards of 20 rod holders including the rocket launcher, optional outriggers, a tuna/dive door, and an optional tuna tower make this as fishy as any center console—multihull or otherwise.
