New build alert: The power cat march continues with Xquisite’s Sixty Solar Power. Debuting at the Fort Lauderdale boat show in October, the builder of this 83,000-pound hybrid cat promises a 24-knot top speed and trans-oceanic 8-knot cruising range. Power will come via a solar-diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system anchored by twin 550-hp Volvo Penta D8 IPS700 drives. With a 26-foot beam, she looks to have tons of space, while a draft just under four feet should allow a captain with chops to capably handle shallow anchorages. 8 kW of solar and a big lithium bank should allow for extended time with systems running free of genset diesel or grid power too.
