The Link-5 offers such functions as dual- and tri-watch mode, local and long-distance transmit settings, and all-channel-priority and memory-channel scans.

Features include call logs retaining up to 10 distress calls and 20 individual DSC calls. Twenty user-programmable names with MMSI let the user spend less time looking up numbers and punching keys and more time communicating. A 1-inch by 1.8-inch LCD display shows channel and lat/lon data and offers adjustable backlighting. Dedicated volume and squelch knobs simplify setting adjustments, while an oversize dedicated Channel 16/9 key and weather key to 10 weather channels offer intuitive operation. The Link-5 also has selectable 25-/1-watt transmit power, NMEA 0183 compatibility, and a second receiver for incoming DSC messages on Channel 70.

The Lowrance Link-5 is a 25-watt DSC-enabled VHF radio. Built on a robust chassis, the Link-5 is housed in a rubber-molded case rated to IPX7—that means it can be immersed in water for up to 30 minutes to a depth of 39 inches.

Installation options include a flush-mount kit, wires for 4-watt external speakers, and a PL259 connection for 3- or 8-foot antennas (optional stainless steel and nylon mounts for antennas available).

Protected by a limited 2-year warranty, the Link-5 is also supported for three additional years by the Lowrance 5-Year Advantage Program.
