Simrad is introducing a new radar system compatible with all Simrad multifunction displays. Available in 4-, 6-, and 7-foot open-array antennas, the systems were developed to meet all current and impending “clean spectrum” emissions requirements, beating the 30-dB-per-decade low-emission standard that will be mandatory in some countries by August 2015.

Control of the radar is simplified through the Simrad user interface, where tune, gain, and sea-clutter adjustments are automated in both harbor and offshore modes. A selectable color palette allows for improved target distinction based on viewing conditions.

Adding the Simrad RC42 rate compass ($645), the Low Emission HD Digital Radar data can be overlaid on charts and track up to ten user-selected MARPA targets. The radars support both true and relative motion to distinguish between moving targets and landmasses.

Dual electronic bearing LINE and variable range markers offer near-instant range information according to the manufacturer. Dual guard zones allow the user to adjust sensitivity of detection for targets both entering and exiting the zone.
