When you need a serial or model number from the back of a fixed-mount electronic unit and you can’t see behind it, use your mobile phone to take a picture. Most phones are slim enough to fit behind most any unit. Put your phone in camera mode, place it behind the unit and start clicking. I did this successfully when I needed a serial number from a fixed-mount unit on my boat and it worked perfectly.
