Lancia Aprea 52 Walkthrough

Step aboard the luxurious Lancia Aprea 52 in this full walkthrough

Jay Gatsby meets James Bond in this modern, high-speed six-generation Italian iteration of an express boat. Soft lines, a teak deck, and wood trim throughout remind you that despite a GRP veneer, this is a wooden boat at heart.

Pushed by quad v12 600-horsepower Mercuries, we took a run from Miami to Key West on a picture-perfect day to match the powder-blue hull of this 52-footer, the first of the Lancia Aprea line, which is set to span 32 to 72 feet. And for those wanting a more classic look, worry not, inboard-engine options abound. Look out for more in a forthcoming feature in Power & Motoryacht.

A vintage-style illustration split into two contrasting scenes. On the left, a teenage boy looks down into a tiny, open 13-foot wooden motorboat filled with supplies. On the right, a massive steel-hulled naval warship cruises past under a dramatic sky.

A Boy and a Boat

In 1957, teenager Tom Ireland set out on a 1,500-mile journey from Long Island to Miami aboard a 13-foot Speedliner with a 25-hp outboard. What happened next even Mark Twain couldn’t make up.

A side profile shot of a modern, white Sunseeker 82 Ocean luxury motor yacht cruising at speed across open water. The vessel features striking black-tinted window bands along its multi-deck hull and a black hardtop structure over its upper deck flybridge. It kicks up a substantial white spray and wake as it glides under a soft pink, purple, and gold sunset sky, with a British Red Ensign flag flying from the stern.

Sunseeker 82 Ocean

It may be a cliché, but the second hull in the British builder’s acclaimed Ocean line is a small superyacht with more social spaces than you can count.

An aerial, high-angle three-quarter shot of a white center-console power catamaran cruising through green water, leaving a foaming white wake behind its twin hulls. Two men are on board, with the driver at the helm station beneath a black T-top canopy. The boat features tan upholstered seating, including an open bow lounge area and a rear-facing cockpit bench. The aft deck is finished with a light brown faux-teak swim platform extension flanking twin black outboard engines.

Volare Artemis 23

A scrappy start-up in South Carolina set out to build an electric boat that—they hope—can go the distance.

A low-angle, three-quarter view from the water looking up at a white Invictus ST55 luxury motor yacht idling on calm blue seas. A couple sits relaxing on the spacious aft sunpad deck outside the enclosed main cabin, which features dark tinted windows and black radar domes on the roof. The yacht's modern design includes a fold-down bulwark terrace extended on the starboard side just above the waterline, set against a bright blue sky filled with fluffy white clouds.

Invictus ST55

A decade after Invictus came onto the global scene, the Italian boatbuilder is really hitting its stride.

An aerial, high-angle shot of a light-blue and white Pursuit DC 286 dual-console sports boat cruising fast through dark blue choppy waters. The boat features an open bow seating area, a white hardtop with a radar dome, and twin white Yamaha outboard motors producing a heavy white wake. Long black outrigger poles extend backward from the hardtop canopy, framing the fishing-equipped boat as it cuts through the open ocean.

Pursuit DC 286

The builder’s newest dual console should be atop your five-gallon bucket list.
