Meet the Black Shiver 220

If Batman needs a 50-knot, 70-footer with a pair of Rolls-Royce jet drive engines, Sardinia's Novamarine has the Dark Knight covered. Meet the Black Shiver 220 at the 2019 Cannes Yachting Festival.

Video produced by John V. Turner

One of the fun things about attending the Cannes Yachting Festival is getting a glimpse of the amazing vessels that for one reason or another never come to U.S. shores. One such boat was the Novamarine Black Shiver 220.

On a day on the Côte d’Azur where showgoers and exhibitors battled steady downpours, the 70-footer stopped us in our tracks. Dressed in all black and powered by twin 1,900-hp diesels matched to Rolls Royce KaWeMa (now Kongsberg Maritime) waterjets, the manufacturer claims the 220 will hit a top end of 50 knots and boasts a 400 nm range at a 42-knot cruise.

The builder’s Sardinia facility and the Italian Rivera is where the gargantuan RIB makes its home. If Batman needs a statement boat, Novamarine has the Dark Knight covered.
