Back in the late 1970’s, naval architect Ben Ostlund was commissioned to design a raised deck, fiberglass-hulled boat that paid tribute to the gorgeous wooden cruisers of the 1920’s. The result was the stunning Fairchild Scout 30.

The result was the stunning Fairchild Scout 30. This remarkable small live-aboard is owned by Russell and Nancy Bourne of Jupiter, Florida. With a super-efficient small diesel engine, Hope and Glory not only averages a mere gallon-per-hour fuel burn, but she’s proof that you don’t have to be rich to enjoy one of the coolest boats on the water.
