Teak and stainless steel comes with a price; chairs like this can range from a low of $3,000 to a high of about $19,000.

Jimmy Dewberry, vice president and co-owner of Release Marine, says that its chairs are sturdy enough to “tow a dinghy” from them.

Jeff Donahue, captain of the 77-foot Hatteras Safari, says that the goal in constructing any fighting chair is to build one that will never break, no matter what.

Selecting the proper fighting chair depends largely on how often, where, and with whom you intend to fish.
